Kiln:

A thermally insulated chamber that produces temperatures?high enough?to create processes such as?hardening, drying and firing up?clay pottery, tiles and bricks. These processes are?slow?and take many hours to complete.

WHOA!?You mean to say a kiln is no ordinary day-to-day oven that does the job of cooking?

Nope.

Who gives a dime?

Well, if you're building toward a goal,?you’re in one?right now. That’s right, you’re in a kiln – a furnace that’s slowly but surely firing you up for some hardening into irreplaceably unique pottery that's hardy enough to last for years of service.?

Many tend to stick to the belief that?in adversity?(like a pandemic), it's as if you’re just wilting, losing moisture, getting charred, as a casserole would in a kitchen oven; i.e. getting depressed, more anxious and losing joy.

Let’s widen our perspective for a moment, shall we??Instead of losing something, how can you?receive something?in a time of?slowing down?into the quiet of your inner world?

Because perhaps you haven’t been thrown into a hot oven to burn and churn. Perhaps you’ve been placed into a furnace to burn off something that wasn't serving you until now, and that was holding you back from achieving your goals.

That is – at least – a different perspective. It deserves just as much thought as the oven perspective does.

Wait a second! Doesn’t that make you special??Doesn’t that mean you’re a unique piece of?handcrafted art?that’s going to be the vase holding the flowers in feasts, or the exquisitely painted indigo tile on the fountain walls? (You've got to agree, that’s a much better image than a hunk of meat that gets charred, chewed and excreted).

You are?NOT?a hunk of meat being dealt a bad card by life! You are a work of art that’s meant to serve a?purpose. Get the heck out of your head and?use?this time to do some healing and expanding because once the temperatures in the kiln are cooled down and you're ready to step out, you'll be feeling proud, calm and happy that you?got into action?and are now ready to take the next step in the new ways things will unfold.?

Moment of honesty:

Where in your life have you felt like you were inside an?opportune?time to do something that would’ve served you, but didn’t? Maybe you kept making excuses and kept yourself busy with this and that as a way to?numb out that precious voice?that was inviting you to take action.

Journal time:?

Hey adversity, what are you trying to tell me? What is this kiln trying to sweat out of me and what is it trying to fashion me into?

Give yourself the?time, chance and respect?of a few moments of thought before throwing your pen, and your hands up in the air!

Here are?some common voices?to look out for:

  • It’s too scary.
  • It’s unknown.
  • It’s difficult to go within.
  • I don’t know what to expect.
  • I don’t have the time (The age-old excuse that's been rebutted beautifully with 'if you really want something, you'll make time for it')

There is nothing in the world more important than?you?right now. There’s nothing to lose. And there’s nothing scary about healing, especially when you have someone?by your side?who’s been there and is 100% there to hold up a light until you learn to turn up your own flame to?maxed out.
