You’re Not One Of Us So Go To Hell

You’re Not One Of Us So Go To Hell

From today’s reading...

“If I walk out into the field,
look! those slain by the sword;
If I enter the city,
look! those consumed by hunger.”

A college classmate of mine shared a video this past weekend of a white man being severely beaten by a black man for supposedly making racist statements. (There is evidence that contradicts this premise but my friend is more interested in stirring the pot than getting to the truth, but I digress.)

Some of the comments on the thread include:

  • “You can’t be walking around just saying anything and don’t think anything will happen. He’s lucky that’s all he got.”
  • “The guy talking sh*t had to expect a reaction, maybe not this reaction, but he had to expect A [sic] reaction.”
  • “He deserved an a*s whoopen..”

It seems that Facebook keyboard vigilantes have no problem with people being punished—even beaten to death—for saying the wrong thing to the wrong person in 2018 (as long as they get to decide what the wrong words are and who the wrong people are, but I digress.)

Fortunately for all of us, God is not that fickle, arbitrary, capricious, and hostile. He is patient. He is loving. He is also just. He will allow you to sleep in the bed you made, not unlike the way He allowed the people of Judah to “benefit” from their wicked ways, which caused the eyes of God to…

“stream with tears day and night, without rest,
over the great destruction which overwhelms
the virgin daughter of my people,
over her incurable wound.”

When you let your emotions and your feelings and your unformed conscience dictate your actions it is nearly impossible to…

Stay the course.

Keep the faith.

Endure.

Now go sell something.

For whatever it's worth you have my respect for sincere belief in a higher power which possesses some sense of "morality". Problem seems to me as to what that "morality" consists of. Think Sodom and Gommorah. Maybe better for man to try to apply his ability to reason in solving difficult problems on this earth.?

Good point. Tolerance is only tolerance if it goes both ways. What we see now is not only a demand for tolerating others but accepting their view as truth. That’s not tolerance. It’s surrender.

Yes, this has been a sad picture to watch as it's been unfolding. It takes courage to step out and be different and express different views...but life would simply not be worth living any other way! In fact, it's not living life when you are just another sheeple without a voice in the herd!?
