You're More Than A Post - Let Your Website Speak Louder! ??

Hey there,

You know how much I love Fridays, right? It's my day to step back, recharge, and reflect. This week, my thoughts took me to an often-overlooked aspect of our digital lives - our dependence on social media. ????

Let's face it. If we're not scrolling, liking, or tweeting, are we really working? But here's a hard truth: not everything that glitters on social media is gold.

The Back Story

Last month, I bumped into an old client. Let's call her "Jane". Jane runs a flourishing bakery. Her Instagram is a delight of mouth-watering pastries and engaging stories. Her followers? Oh, she's got plenty - about 7,000!

But Jane had a problem. A BIG problem. Her Instagram account was mysteriously deleted! ??

Just like that, her business was cut off from her primary audience. A nightmare for anyone who relies heavily on social media.

The Moral Of The Story

There's nothing wrong with using social media platforms. They're great for reaching potential clients, showcasing your work, and staying relevant.

But remember, social media is just a platform, not a foundation. We don't own it; we rent it. Algorithms change, platforms disappear, and what then?

We should always have our website content as the cornerstone of our online presence. The more you invest in it, the more valuable it becomes.

Here's what I'm saying: don't forget about your website while riding the social media wave. It's like your digital home. You own it, and you set the rules.

Bringing It Home

If you've been ignoring your website, it's time to refocus.

Is the blog section sitting dormant? Revive it. Start writing about your industry, your process, and your experiences. Your blog posts can reach and inspire people in ways social media posts can't.

A well-written blog post can capture your voice, provide in-depth insights, and even rank on Google for organic traffic. Who wouldn't want that?

Keep the 'About Us' page updated. Allow your audience to know the person behind the brand. Connection starts with understanding, and people do business with people they like.

Showcase your portfolio. It's your own personal art gallery. Go ahead, brag a bit. It's not bragging if you're just stating the facts. ??

My Final Thoughts

Now, I'm not saying you should abandon social media. But it's good to remember the big picture and keep a healthy balance.

While social media provides a snapshot, your website is like the full story. The former is a great place to start a conversation, but the latter is where you can have a meaningful dialogue.

So, how much time are you investing in your website content? Is your site being the silent ambassador it ought to be? ??

Shoot me an email and share your thoughts. I'm all ears.

Until next time, keep thriving.

Wil.
