You’re Invited to Submit: JDS Communications Special Issue on Behavior in Dairy Animals

JDS Communications? is inviting submissions until September 15, 2023, for a special issue of the journal dedicated to behavior in dairy animals. Open access fees will be waived for the first 20 articles accepted—don’t miss this opportunity to share your research!

Editors are especially interested in short communications, technical notes, and review articles that address the following topics:

• Calf and heifer behavioral responses to dam-offspring contact, including severing the maternal bond, transport, and climate change
• Youngstock’s behavioral responses to changes in housing, animal handling, changes in diet, including transition to solid feed, and early-life experiences and their effect on adult animal behavior
• Adults’ behavioral responses to feeding, lying, and social interaction, including the effects of housing, management, and environment, the milking parlor and milking robots, automated monitoring for heat detection and health management, as well as interactions with other cows and farm workers

Submitted papers may address all aspects of behavior, such as genetics and underlying physiological mechanisms, including endocrine responses and cognition.
