Even though I will be in Chicago for my Know Your Value conference this Friday, Thursday night will be especially close to my heart.
That's because Thursday is the day that my mom, Emilie Brzezinski, is being honored with a reception commemorating a new art exhibit of her contemporary sculptures at downtown Chicago's Society for Arts, 1112 Gallery.
I am excited to share that YOU are also personally invited to join us for this special event.
My mom, an 83-year-old, chainsaw-wielding wood sculptor, has been doing this for as long as I can remember. When I was little, I had to fight the roar of the chainsaw to get her attention… And sometimes, I still do!
She has always been so focused on her work, so in tune with nature, carving, axing, or chiseling along all the time. Her monumental creations have been displayed in museums, galleries, sculpture collections in over 15 countries and several states.
Her exhibit that opens Thursday, titled "Old Medium, New Tools", will feature four of her wood sculpture installations. There, you can walk among her towering White Oak Verticals, which received first prize for sculpture in the Florence, Italy Biennale. If your neck gets tired craning up at the contrapposto form of her giant trees, feel free to take a rest on her stunning Cherry Bench II. Its vibrant reds and detailed chisel marks reveal signs of trees' natural beauty and my mother's talent with her tools.
I can't wait to see the look on my mom's face when she sees The Society for Arts filled with people waiting to view her sculptures. She will be so thrilled.

7 年Mika is the lying phony that had an elicit affair with a married co-worker and broke up her family after 23 years. She is the biggest two faced phony that has ever lived. She sits next to Liberal Joe in the morning and says real important things like "we will be right back" and " your right Joe". If she was not the daughter of a very famous man she would be waiting tables in New York.
