You’re NOT an Imposter and You Don’t Have a Syndrome’ Let’s make 2025 the year of YES and for your voice to be heard!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from the incredible fearless female leaders I’ve been honored to work with, it’s that self-doubt often shows up at the most pivotal moments. Whether it’s a big opportunity or a personal goal that feels just out of reach, we sometimes hesitate. We wonder, Why me? Am I ready? Do I deserve this? Am I an imposter?

Let me be the first to say: you are not an imposter. You are worthy. You deserve to shine your light. Sometimes it’s an old reel that we are playing that’s been conditioned over time, personally, culturally, or even generationally. Isn’t it time to flip the script?

Inspired by Shonda Rhimes’ book ‘Year of Yes’ and the incredible and influential women I’ve worked with, my personal theme for 2025 is Why Not Me? I’m inviting you to make it yours, too. This simple mindset shift can be transformational. It’s about saying “yes” to the bold opportunities that scare you a little (or a lot) but are exactly what you’re meant to do. It’s the high energy ‘yes’ place between your heart and your gut to say ‘yes’ to before your head gets in the way to slow you down or grind you to a halt.

Recently, I found myself faced with one of those moments. I was invited to have my book, Fearless Female Leadership, featured on a billboard in Times Square. At first, I thought, Why me? But then I reminded myself: Why NOT me? And I said yes!

Here’s how you can adopt this mindset to own your worth and step into your next bold opportunity:

3 Steps to Say “Yes” to Bold Opportunities

1. Listen to Your Gut and Heart Deep down, you already know what your next bold move is. Maybe it’s applying for a leadership role, starting a new initiative, or finally writing that book. Take a moment to get quiet and ask yourself: What am I holding back on? The answer is already within you.
2. Reframe the Question Instead of asking, Why me? ask, Why not me? Every leader you admire has had their own doubts (just listen to some of my old podcast episodes!), but they didn’t let it stop them. You’ve put in the work, gained the experience, and built the skills. You are ready, even if it feels scary.
3. Take the First Step Saying “yes” doesn’t mean you need the entire plan figured out. The key is to take one bold step forward, even if it’s uncomfortable. Commit to the opportunity, raise your hand, or have the conversation. Momentum builds confidence.
