You're cruising along at 65 MPH, and then...

Consider this a public service announcement.

A few days ago, my wife was driving my car on I-476 South. Then, out of nowhere...

BOOM!

If you think that's bad, here's what happened to the inside.

As you can see, glass went flying everywhere. I even found some in the trunk!

So, what happened?

Here's a hint. A few days prior, we had a snowstorm roll through the area.

Any guesses?

That's right, a huge piece of ice flew off the top of a tractor trailer (heading Northbound, by the way) and hit Eileen as she was cruising along at 65 MPH.

BOOM!

Fortunately, she kept her cool and was able to pull over without making matters worse. I-476 is a very busy road, especially around rush hour when this happened.

Not only that, but after talking with the repair shop, they said that the only thing preventing the ice from fully penetrating the window was the fact that it partially hit the roof. Otherwise, it would have been like a bullet flying through the car.

Scary stuff, right?

This should be a lesson for truckers. I realize it's not fun to scrape ice from the top of the trailer, but it needs to be done. It's the law and can literally save lives in the process.

Do me a favor and tell your trucking friends.
