You're Asking the Wrong Question

A farmer wanted to buy a pony for his daughter.? One ranch he visited offered him a pony for $1,000.? The second rancher told him the cost would be $2,000.? But this rancher included a veterinarian’s certificate, a week’s worth of hay, and a month of free riding lessons.? The $2,000 offer was an easy decision for the farmer and he happily purchased the pony from the second rancher.
?Advisors come to me almost every day with questions like,
“How can I get more sales?” or
“How can I get in front of more qualified prospects?” or
“How can I improve my business?”
These are the wrong questions.
?In The Advisor Breakthrough, financial marketing expert Shawn Sparks says, “If you want to add clients, the question is always, ‘How can I add more and more value to every single client?’”
“When you wake up in the morning,” says Sparks, “your first thought should be, ‘How can I add value to my clients today?’”
Advisors who add value forget about wanting and focus on giving. Engaged clients introduce them to friends and family members. These advisors share their “why” and useful information with their niche through seminars, webinars, posts, and videos. ?And their businesses grow.?
I have a team that has been preparing many of my recent posts. ?They believe that you’ll want to work with me if I entice you with superlatives like “secrets of top advisors” and promises of “five-fold” and “10X” results.?

?Maybe they’re right.? Offer enough people a chance to “triple your qualified leads” or “add $50,000 to your income in six months,” and someone will say “YES, I want to try that!”
And I won’t deny that some of my clients over the years have had results like this, or that with just two or three exceptions, every advisor who has worked with me has finished our work in a much better place in his business. It happens because I'm always asking, "How can I add value?"
The flashy superlatives and multiples my marketing team wants me to talk about are not my style.? I am 100% convinced that I can help any advisor who is open to a breakthrough move far beyond what he or she pays for my services in a very short time, because I will add value anywhere and everywhere I can.
I can help advisors get more and better clients, manage their time, delegate better to and coach their teams, and create much stronger relationships with their best clients and other professionals. And I can be there for them as they change their thinking and their habits, helping them have the confidence and success they want--without working around the clock or taking shortcuts that would make them feel out of integrity.
?I do this by adding value.?
?I’m not comfortable promising you the moon.? But I am comfortable promising you significant improvement—in your income, in your use of your time, in the way you think and feel about your business, and in your confidence.?

10 个月Good article, Sandy. When I started out, I remember people saying you needed to be "the cheapest." the road to pain and trouble. Instead, you to be the best value in your market.
