You're Already Late for 2024, so Let’s Get Ready for Black Friday 2025

Wait, what?

You’re probably thinking, “Does this guy even know when Black Friday is?” Yes, I do—November 29, 2024. The day that can make or break your year. The day that can turn your year around. The day you prepare for months in advance. So, why am I saying you’re already too late for 2024?

?? From my work consulting digitally-driven businesses, I’ve seen this trend firsthand. Time moves faster than you think when it comes to planning Black Friday strategies. Here’s why you should already be well underway—backed by real-life examples from the front lines, not theory.

Why You’re Late: A Reality Check: Customers Are Way Ahead of You ??

People aren’t waiting until the last minute anymore. They’re planning their big-ticket purchases (electronics, appliances, furniture, even clothes) months in advance. They fill up their wishlists, bookmark their favorite items, and monitor prices for months, waiting for that perfect Black Friday deal.

I've seen consumers take out loans just to buy something on Black Friday because the discount is so significant that it makes more sense financially. And it's not just about materialism anymore—people, especially the younger generation, prefer spending on experiences rather than possessions, but when they do make a purchase, they want the best deal possible.

Traders, You’re the Problem Too ??

The biggest reason you’re late? You. Black Friday has morphed from a one-day event into a month-long marathon. Every year, it stretches longer—one week, two weeks, and now more than 30 days of pre-Black Friday deals - like bubblegum.

For example, like one of my clients, you can release 100 products at a discount a month before, then increase the offers numbers weekly until Black Friday, when you sell 1000 products. Or, start with smaller discounts and ramp them up, putting customers' patience and needs to the test. It creates a sense of urgency, especially if there’s a countdown on stock levels.

How to Catch the Last Train Before It’s Too Late ??

If you're still catching your breath, it's time to refocus. Here’s how to get back on track for 2024:

  1. Analyze the Past: Look at the past two years. What sold, when did it sell, and to whom?
  2. Create a Strategy: Define your persona, products, channels, and campaigns. Start with data-driven insights.
  3. Prepare Internally: Set up your team, streamline the process, and ensure your logistics can handle the load. Train your staff—Black Friday requires an army.
  4. Create & Starting campaign - creative, content, products, etc prepared and executed - GO

Can you organize all of this in just three weeks? Time to push! The 2025 train is coming, but for 2024, you're racing against the clock. Stay tuned for more strategies in upcoming articles to help you dominate Black Friday.

The Key to Surviving Black Friday (and Thriving)

This isn’t just about discounts. Last year, I watched a €200 million business make €80 million in this single day. The businesses that win aren’t the ones with the deepest discounts, but the ones who understand that Black Friday is THE day—the day customers plan for, talk about, and shop for.

So, if you’ve made it this far... Stop scrolling, head to the warehouse, and start preparing! You're already late. ??

?? Stay tuned for more insights on how to prepare for Black Friday like a pro.
