If You’re Not Afraid of This, You’re Setting Yourself Up To Fail
Are you afraid of success?
It seems like a stupid question, but actually, most people are afraid to succeed.
Here’s how you can tell: If you know what you want to achieve, and you haven’t taken the steps forward to achieve it, then you’re afraid to succeed.
Here’s the thing: people are afraid of success, they’re afraid of failure, they’re afraid of looking stupid, afraid of their friends knowing that you tried and couldn’t do it, afraid of not being able to pay the mortgage, and afraid of losing their job.
But every successful person is afraid of 1 thing, and if you’re not afraid of it, you’re pretty much guaranteed to fail.
Here’s my greatest fear: mediocrity.
I’m afraid that I’m going to end up living, working and enjoying life several pegs lower than my potential.
And that kills me inside.
That single fear of mediocrity is enough to make me get up in the morning and grind.
It’s enough to make me constantly try new ideas, speed up my execution, and never rest on my past achievements.
Here’s why mediocrity is the most treacherous fear of all.
What’s easy is what’s most damaging.
It’s easy for me to drift through my workday, binge watch Netflix every night and otherwise slip into an easy life.
You don’t choose mediocrity, mediocrity chooses you — every day.
That’s why you have to not only fear mediocrity, but you have to actively fight against it every single day.
That’s the only way you can hope to achieve greatness…and fulfill the potential within you.
