ARE YOUR WORDS CONGRUENT?

I am sitting here thinking about what has made my business successful? What has kept people coming even though sometimes my customers and I have had disagreements?

The answer a part from the favour of my Lord Jehovah, it has been the mantra that I live by "My words have to be congruent, meaning that what I say has to be what I do 100% of the time" Sounds simple right?? Nooo it is not.

As a small business owner I am constantly frustrated that hardly anyone do what they say. Excuses have become so accepting that if you call persons out on their inability to keep their word you're looked at as the one with the problem.

Don't get me wrong me being congruent 100% of the time does not always happen and the 5% when it does not happen I own it. How? Well I am glad you ask that question,

I simply pick up the phone, send an email or meet the client in person and apologize telling them I am going to fix it even if it means me returning their monies. While 5% of the time I fail to keep my word I have found that people find candor sooooo refreshing that they almost feel embarass for making a fuss when I did not live up to what I said I would do. "Mmmmm ya think honesty is still the best policy?"

So I am thinking what's with not keeping your word? I have learnt that words have power, the bible says "Life and death are in the power of the tongue" Imagine if we really believe that, we would really think before we speak and would not say that we would do something when most times we know we can't or simply won't do it.

The dictionary defines congruent as "In agreement or harmony" So are ask you "Do you have a harmonious relationship with your words?" If not I encourage you to get one because it can make the difference between success and failure in all areas of your life.

Wish you the most successful life

Michelle, thanks for this post. It really resonated with me. I'm trying not to break my word, it is difficult but it is definitely worth it.
