Your Willpower Can Find A Way
"...I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." Isaiah 43:19 KJV
When your car breaks down on the highway, the last thing you do is sit in the car and whisper, "Help!" Instead, you step out to try and find the problem or call for help if necessary. That's because, at all costs, you want to continue moving. Eventually, your car will leave the road.
When things go our way, it's easy for us to claim victory. When they don't go our way, we easily blame others for our defeat. Why? Because we don't like to take responsibility for the things that we did not exercise enough willpower for.
Your willpower is what helps you see the open doors to the solutions you look for. God will not do wonders if He doesn't have your permission. Instead of forcing the door open, He knocks and allows you to exercise your will to open the door.
The work you do makes up most of your waking hours and is probably where you experience the most setbacks and victories. You've probably realised that even the hardest projects have solutions and some of the simplest problems go unsolved. Why? The will to fix what's broken.
There are days when it looks like I'll be unable to fix the problem at hand and so I just distract myself. There are also days when I don't sleep until the issue is solved. For the former, I can lie to myself by saying I want the problem fixed, but the truth is my willpower doesn't match what I say. Because of this, I won't ask for help, pray for direction or search for a solution.
Your willpower alone cannot make you successful at what you do because there are several factors at play. But from the focus scripture, you can't see the path that God has made in the wilderness if you don't have the willpower to walk through the wilderness unharmed. Your willpower to have a certain wilderness experience will prompt you to ask God for help and will eventually open you up to see the path He makes, according to His will.
