Your “Why” Has to Be Bigger

Your “Why” Has to Be Bigger

Have you ever wondered why some people struggle to commit to change?

Maybe “struggle to commit” describes you pretty well.

You know that you need to change something in your healthcare business to make it grow. And maybe you’ve even read a few books and learned about some strategies that you can use.

…But you aren’t changing anything.

You haven’t committed.

Why?

Well, “why” is actually the operative word here!

So many people don’t commit to change because their “why”, or their reason for doing so, isn’t big enough.

And because of that, they don’t feel motivated enough to put the work in and take action to create the change.

Let me give you an example…

We’ll assume I’ve asked you what your “why” is and you’ve told me that you want to create freedom in your life.

Fair enough…

But it’s not very specific.

Freedom is a nebulous concept that could mean so many different things.

And because you haven’t boiled it down to something specific, “freedom” isn’t big enough to make you want to change your habits.

It’s just a vague goal somewhere off in the distance that you can’t focus on.

So, how could you frame “freedom” to make it bigger?

How about…

“I want to create a business that doesn’t require me to spend every waking hour working in it. That will allow me to spend more time with my family and actually watch my kids grow up.”

Now that is a big “why”!

With that, you’ve gotten super-specific.

You’ve defined what you want your healthcare business to look like and you’ve defined exactly why you want more time in your life.

This is a “why” that’s big enough to stand against all of the stories, excuses, and habits that currently hold you back.

So, I want you to think about your “why.”

Make it specific and give yourself something tangible to shoot for.

That’s how you motivate yourself to overcome the internal programming that influences your direction right now.
