Your Wellbeing Matters

We have all heard that "All Work and No Play Makes Jack a Dull Boy" but I say "All Work and No Play (Rest) May Make Jack a Dead Boy. Grim, I know but that's the reality of life. We all tend to overwork and ignore when our body cries out in pain - be it mental or physical pain. We bring work home after hours, on weekends and even when we are suppose to be on leave. What we fail to realize is that we are all replaceable; if we die today then tomorrow our position will be filled by someone else.

Raise your hands if workload vs headcount ratio is miscalculated by your company and that is causing you to bring work home. There's always a colleague or Manager to handle your task if you are on leave unless you refuse to delegate; then it's time to let go and delegate. It's not enough turning on your Out of Office Message saying your are on Paid Time Off (PTO); you need to also stop sending or responding to emails or WhatsApp messages related to work when you are on leave.

When you leave your office; don't think about work anymore. Learn to have a balanced life. If you are unwell, take your meds and have a good sleep as your body and mind needs to heal. Spend quality time with your loved ones, be fully present physically and mentally. Remember this - someone out there is fighting to live so they can spend another day with their loved ones. Don't wait till it's too late to do so. Stop and smell the roses, life is too short.
