This week's round-up entails Reinsurance News' coverage of the annual Rendez-Vous de Septembre event in Monaco, where we interviewed a host of key players from across the industry.
CCR Re Deputy CEO?Laurent Montado said that the firm sees "many opportunities for growth" in the near future, a view bolstered by its new ownership and capital injection.
Taoufik Gharib, Senior Director at S&P Global noted that structural changes in reinsurance are "long lasting", while?Shaun Barrington, CEO of UIB UK, highlighted that the hard market is not necessarily over, but most of the work of repricing "has been done."
Elsewhere, PwC’s Jim Bichard underlined how the impacts of climate change are continuing to be felt around the world, while?AM Best said that failure to demonstrate the value of insurance products is a key driver of the protection gap.
NewRe's?CEO Thomas Braune set out the firm's strategy for P&C & profit over the next year, and?Swiss Re’s?Gianfranco Lot?explained that "cyber insurance is yet to evolve to the same levels as property cat."

Meanwhile,?SCOR's CEO Thierry Léger observed that AI represents “big challenges for the future."?Légeralso said that "exclusions are not the solution" when speaking about some of the challenges the industry is currently facing.
Finally, turning to the renewals,?SiriusPoint’s CUO David Govrin suggested that "reinsurers will remain disciplined across most classes of business" at 1/1, while?Dirk Spenner, Managing Director EMEA, Gallagher Re, said?the attention has swung back to the client, though?reinsurers will "maintain underwriting discipline and safeguard more favourable terms and conditions."
