?? Strathclyde Scientists Create World’s First Fully-3D Printed Microscope

Scientists at the 英国斯特拉斯克莱德大学 have developed the world’s first fully 3D-printed microscope, assembled in under three hours for less than £50. Demonstrating sub-cellular resolution on test samples, it offers an affordable alternative to traditional microscopes. ?? University of Glasgow Leads NEUROBOT Project to Treat Epilepsy with AI and Nanotechnology

Funded by ARIA’s £69M Precision Neurotechnologies programme, the four-year project aims to create injectable neural robots made from advanced nanomaterials. These neurobots will provide precise neural stimulation and deliver drugs using innovative bioactive coatings, offering a novel approach to closed-loop neuromodulation therapy.

?? GCU Joins Groundbreaking AI Dementia Eye Test

Glasgow Caledonian University has joined a team of data scientists and clinical researchers to develop a digital tool to predict dementia risk using routine eye tests. The NeurEYE team has collected nearly a million anonymised eye scans, forming the world’s largest dataset of its kind. Using AI and machine learning, researchers aim to identify patterns linking eye health to dementia risk and overall brain health.

?? Glasgow Schoolgirl’s Solar Invention Tackles Homelessness and Wins National Prize

Rebecca Young, a 12-year-old from Glasgow’s Kelvinside Academy has won the MacRobert Commendation Medal in the UK Primary Engineer competition for her solar-powered heated blanket for the homeless. Inspired by Glasgow’s rough sleepers, her innovative design integrates a heated blanket into a solar-powered backpack. Engineering firm Thales has developed a prototype using copper wiring, flexible frames, and solar panels, with hopes to refine and patent it.

Dear Green Coffee Roasters , a Glasgow-based company founded in 2011, has made history as the first European roastery to win Roast Magazine's prestigious Micro Roaster of the Year award. Recognised for exceptional coffee quality, sustainability, and community impact, Dear Green beat global competition in the category for roasters producing under 100,000 pounds of coffee annually. A major achievement for one of Scotland’s first specialty coffee pioneers!
