So a big thanks to those that signed up for my weekly musings.
9,602 of you, to be precise but now the pressure's on.
I need to provide you guys some serious value in the current world of massive distraction.
My main area of focus is helping people lose weight but what I've come to realise over the years is this:
The mechanics of losing body fat are very simple.
Not easy, but very simple.
You eat fewer calories than you burn and you do that by controlling your intake of food, and usually by increasing your output with exercise.
It's all about energy balance.
CICO = calories in versus calories out.
As I said, very simple.
So why do most people struggle with this?
Why do we all not have a perfect body? (whatever that is to you)
Why are so many people left frustrated and confused as to why they just can't lose weight?
Why have I had over 30 people contact me in the last 12 days asking about my coaching
The psychology of fat loss is extremely difficult for many.
In fact, this is what keeps most people where they are and if they do lose weight, reverting very quickly back to where they started from or even worse.
Like most things in life, you only ever get what you believe you deserve and what you believe to be possible.
Mary says "I've tried everything, I just can't lose weight"
Well, the truth is Mary, you tried many things that were never going to work and you quit half of them before you were meant to.
And why do people quit?
Here are a few reasons:
More often than not, it's from a lack of understanding of the process.
Setting unrealistic targets and "failing" early on.
Following a plan that just doesn't work.
Lack of patience, discipline & consistency and the ability to get back on the horse when it appears that "nothing works"
That is usually closer to the truth.
But there's more...
Self-limiting beliefs that have been programmed from previous attempts at weight loss but often other traumatic life experiences.
These "failures" lead to self-sabotage, consciously sometimes but very often subconsciously.
"I don't know what went wrong, I just can't stick to any diet I follow"
These limiting beliefs and sabotage lead to the fulfilling prophecy.
Mary has convinced herself before she even began that she was going to fail.
"Because I always do. See. I can never lose weight"
Her own theory has just been proven correct.
What a vicious circle to be trapped in and I see it every single day of the year.

To make matters worse, eating food is one of the most pleasurable experiences we have as humans.
We are emotional creatures and often eat and drink to soothe the pain or to enhance life, one way or another.
That ^^^
...my friends, is a small part of what I mean by the "psychology of fat loss"
It's not easy.
This is a huge part of what I help clients with on my coaching programme.
I can teach the mechanics of fat loss in 10 mins.
The psychology takes time and many clients that lose 20-30lbs in 12 weeks with me are not the finished article.
In fact, no one ever becomes the perfect specimen around food.
I struggle with this mentally most days.
I have to use every bit of my will power and beliefs to not drink alcohol every day of the week, with a movie bag of Doritos on the side.
That's what I want to do.
But I don't.
Why?
Because I value my health, my energy, the quality of my sleep, which in turns affects my output the next day.
I understand the discipline required and results that can be achieved by adhering to that discipline.
I am a person that resonates with a certain body image. I'm fit, healthy and plan to live to as long as possible in the best health - that is who I am.
My self-image is one of health, vitality and abundance and I can't find any of that in a bag of Doritos and at the bottom of a gin & tonic.
(Believe me, I've tried)
If you are still reading this, I salute you.
I doff my digital cap.
I hope this has made sense to you all and had helped in some way.
If you'd like to learn more about how I help my clients lose 20-30lbs in 12 weeks without giving up carbs and other fun stuff from their life AND get to grips with what makes them tick around food, I invite you to book a call with me.
For the rest of you, I invite you to stick around as this is just the beginning of this newsletter.
All the best.
Gav :)

3 年Because they eat too much and do not exercise enough? I know it is a very simplistic version of a more complicated mechanism ??
