Your Training Update | 27 April 2022
Kia ora,
How te Reo Māori can assist you in your business
The use of te Reo Māori in the workplace is growing across Aotearoa, so supporting your team on their Reo journey is absolutely vital.?Due to?increasing demand, our ‘Introductory Business and Workplace te Reo Māori’ course is back.
Research?for Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori (Māori Language Commission) has shown organisations that incorporate te reo me ngā tikanga Māori (Māori language and culture) into their workplace benefit from both improved cultural awareness and job satisfaction. The report also identified one of the main barriers to this?is the fear of ‘getting it wrong.’?
This is where we want to make a difference. Our two-day workshop introduces your team to Māori language pronunciation, helping them grow the confidence needed to understand and engage with Māori protocols and Tikanga. The course also develops their skills to clearly and respectfully engage with a range of Māori businesses and organisations.?
Here’s feedback from some of our previous learners.
Brent?
"I gained a better understanding of some of my own cultural messages/meanings, including a lot of the things I should’ve known as part of my Pakeha/Māori upbringing. Need to spend more time with my own whānau and learn some more to catch up!"
Ariana?
"An inspiring facilitator who explains everything in a very clear, interactive, and engaging way. I improved on my pronunciation and I’ve gained a lot to take back to my workplace to improve our cultural approach strategy. Great course!"
Sarah?
"Whetu (The course facilitator) was fantastic! He was able to introduce us to te Reo Māori in a friendly, easy way. We discussed historical and current issues for Māori which clearly communicated ways for a business to engage with communities. Gave everything context and meaning."
Lisa?
"The course provided a clear overall sense of te Reo Māori. I learned far more than I was expecting. Whetu conveys the information efficiently with a sense of fun. I am going forward from this with more respect and stronger affinity to Te Ao Māori and an inspiration to learn more!"
