Have you ever felt like your TIME was being misused and abused?
I was recently reminded of a client firm which hired me to help the team gain a significant edge on their projects and work together collectively to support how their day was structured. With the entire team working together and agreeing to implement my strategies, the office outperformed ALL the other offices across the country... COMBINED.
Staggering right?! You bet.
That meant projects were completed faster and easier, and everyone involved, from the team members to clients, was deeply satisfied with the process. The head office was thrilled with the amount of revenue which was generated.
Here are some issues that impact our ability to gain an edge on our goals, projects, and tasks.
? Confusion
? Stress
? Overwhelm
? Not understanding priorities
? Inability to delegate
? Not enough Knowledge
? Not enough Experience
? Not designated Experts
? No time to concentrate
? Interruptions
? Too much to do
? No Systems.
? No cooperation
? Etc.
It is possible to gain the edge on virtually every goal, project and task. There is this urge to want to get it all done. You CAN get it all done... just not all at once. You must identify your high priorities and create a plan.
This will give you the edge in managing your time and tasks:
? Get in the right mindset - this increases your energy. Express some joy and enthusiasm and take that into the workplace. Complaining about everything and everyone will suck the life out of you.
? Manage your mental and physical energy.
? Manage your emotions.
? Determine which are your priorities and which are the priorities of others. Your priorities will NOT be the priorities of others.
? You will need to get some cooperation from others and get them on board regarding your priorities or what you deem as important or critical.
? If someone else's job directly impacts your ability to get things done, then you had better get them on board, preferably with loving kindness and great persuasion.
? Remember... everything we acquire in life is with and through other people. So spend a lot of time learning how to get along with a wide variety of personalities.
? Be willing to be vocal and keep in mind the highest company values and goals, and be able to express WHY one project is more important than another and WHY it needs to bump higher on the list of priorities. Let others know WHY it is in their best interest to cooperate with you.
? Learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others.
? Every experience has important life lessons. Figure out what they are.
? Take only calculated risks. Think about the benefits and consequences of doing one thing before another. Every decision in business either costs money or saves money.
? Take action quickly. If you think too much, there is no implementation.
? Step outside of your comfort zone and start, even if it's messy. Doing something new will rarely garner a perfect result. Just realize mistakes can be costly.
? Own the results of your actions - be 100% responsible. If you are worried about being judged, ridiculed or criticized, or what others might think about what you are doing, you won't start or you will stall.
? Learn to be a great problem solver.
? Learn to be a great creative thinker and innovator.
? Have faith and believe in yourself.
? Have some faith and believe in your colleagues.
? Ask for help, direction, suggestions, and guidance, then assess the information. There is no shame in getting input.
? Then make a decision and go for it.
? Test and measure your results.
? Ask for forgiveness and forgive others.
? When your work day is done, go back to your family and friends, and really be intentional about enjoying the evening. Tomorrow is another day.
Every employee and every business leader who doesn't utilize their time efficiently, is losing. If they aren't using their mind efficiently they are losing. Make it your intention to win today and every day.
And that, my friends, is how you Get Noticed, Known and Remembered... for all the right reasons!
