Your Thursday Three Things for April 11th, 2024 (Let's get Un-distracted)

Hey folks!

Jon Macaskill back at it again, bringing you the crème de la crème of discoveries that intersect the worlds of tech, productivity, and, of course, mindful leadership. This week, we're diving into a trove of tools that promise to not just enhance your digital and intellectual life but also steer it toward a more intentional path.

But before we jump into the deep end, let's kick things off with a light-hearted ponder:

If you had a gadget that could instantly improve one aspect of your life, what would it be? I'd opt for a "Distraction Zapper" – oh wait, I think I might have found something close...

Gadget Genius: The Brick

Ever wished for a magic button that could shield you from the incessant pull of social media notifications, emails, and the myriad of apps vying for your attention? Meet "The Brick" - a nifty little gadget that plugs directly onto your phone, empowering you to lock or unlock specific apps with ease. Imagine the power to transform your smartphone from a source of endless distraction into a fortress of focus, all with a simple click. Whether you're gearing up for an intense work session or winding down with family, The Brick helps you dictate the terms of your digital engagement. Curious? Leap over to getbrick.app and see how this tiny titan can help fortify your focus and freedom in the digital age. (No, I’m not an affiliate but I just ordered mine!)

Book Bliss: Deep Work by Cal Newport

In a world brimming with buzzes, beeps, and clicks, Cal Newport's "Deep Work" emerges as a beacon of concentrated brilliance. This book isn't just a read; it's a revelation that challenges the status quo of our fractured focus. Newport argues that the ability to engage in deep, uninterrupted, and highly concentrated work is not just rare but also incredibly valuable in today's economy. "Deep Work" provides actionable insights and strategies to harness this elusive state, enabling us to produce better quality work in less time. For anyone looking to elevate their professional game or simply yearning for a more purposeful and productive life, this book is your compass in the clutter.

Podcast Perfection: The Second Act

Sail over to michaelandjohn.com and tune in. Who knows, you might just find the courage to pen your own second act.

And that, my friends, is a wrap for this week. Each Thursday, I aim to bring you bits and pieces that brighten your days, bolster your businesses, and bind your families closer. Here's to living a life enriched with purpose, passion, and a pinch of playfulness.

Till next time, train hard and breathe easy,

My favourite gadget would make the self learning semi sentient avianraptoravonic toddler AI stop being silly without scolding it to pay attention on task without sending it into a never ending loop of questions and remarks it might have hurt feelings when it has none. Sort of overnight program semi sentient AI to be an adult. Just leads to more programming questions
