Technology is Not a Fix-It Pill
We all want that miracle solution, that quick fix that will solve all our problems.
But I need to be real with you: your tech team is not a fix-it pill. If anything, they’re more like a flashlight, shining light on the holes in your plan or process.
Don't take it personally.
A lot of folks think small business tech is all about marketing and posting on social media. Sure, that's part of it, but the real heart of the matter is data management.
What do you do with all the information you collect?
Who's reading and responding to those reviews once they come in?
And once you go viral, then what?
Let's talk about the REAL reality of going viral.
It sounds great, but it's not always sunshine and roses. If you're not careful, you will forget your goals and start worrying about algorithms and vanity metrics.
Here's my secret: my social media content isn’t for strangers or drawing in new customers.
Everything I post is aimed at helping the people I currently support. I know their needs, their challenges, and their goals. By focusing on them, I create content that truly resonates and adds value to their lives. They get to learn from my mistakes without having to make their own.
Dealing with tech isn’t easy.
It’s not something just anyone can do despite what the internet tells you.
It requires careful planning and a commitment to follow through. When you can’t handle it, you need to hold yourself accountable. It's okay to ask for help, to admit that you need a plan, and to commit to sticking with it.
So, before you rush to post the next flashy piece of content or chase after the latest trend, take a step back. Look at your data. Think about your current customers and how you can better serve them. Plan your tech strategy with intention and purpose.
Remember, we're here to help you shine a light on those gaps and guide you through the process. But it starts with you. Hold yourself accountable, plan ahead, and let’s make your tech work for you, not the other way around.
