  1. Autonomy: Give your team members the freedom to make decisions and take ownership. This builds trust and empowers individuals to take initiative. Micromanagement stifles creativity and innovation, leading to disengaged and unmotivated employees.
  2. Competence: Invest in your team's skills and knowledge. Provide access to training and development opportunities to enhance their abilities. A competent, well led team is a powerful asset, delivering exceptional results and adapting to challenges. Incompetence, on the other hand, can lead to costly mistakes and a damaged reputation.
  3. Relatedness: (not sure if this is a real word - but it works) I always encourage genuine and authentic relationships among my colleagues. This creates opportunities for social connections, even in remote or hybrid settings. When team members feel connected, they are more collaborative, supportive, and productive. Isolation and disconnection, on the other hand, can breed miscommunication and misunderstandings, hindering progress.
  4. Connection: (seems like a no-brainer, but I'm still surprised by the lack of) One of the most important aspects and gao of ANY business, is to foster a culture of open communication and feedback. You need to ensure everyone feels heard and valued.
  5. Purpose: Help your team understand the "why" behind their work. When team members recognize the impact and significance of their contributions, they become more engaged and motivated. A team without a clear purpose is like a ship without a rudder, drifting aimlessly and failing to reach its destination.
