Your Team's Mental Health.

Today, let’s talk about mental health in the workplace. We know nobody really wants to talk about it. But I think it's important, and I have some ideas on how to make the workplace more supportive when someone is dealing with mental health issues. Let's start with some statistics.

According to a research, 1 in 4 adults experience mental illness in a given year, and only 41% of those adults receive treatment for their condition. That means, statistically speaking, you probably work with someone who has a mental illness and receives no treatment for it—or you might be that person yourself!

It is important to recognize that you need help with managing your employee's mental health. This may be something that you have never thought about before or perhaps only now realize how important it is to address these issues. If someone in your team is suffering from depression or anxiety, you should seek professional advice immediately to ensure that these problems do not affect your business negatively and make sure your team remains healthy. There are many resources available online and in person where entrepreneurs can get support and learn more about their options when it comes to managing their team's mental health at work.

There are lots of reasons why someone would not seek treatment for their illness: they might have been raised in a culture where mental illness is stigmatized; they might fear losing their job or being discriminated against if they were open about their illness; or maybe they just don't see any point in seeking help because they don't believe it can help them.

At any company, the mental health of an employee can have a negative impact on them and the people they work with. One person who's struggling can end up being perceived as a difficult co-worker or an underachiever—but in reality, they might just be feeling overwhelmed or dealing with stress at home. Even worse than that, an employee who is unwell might not realize that they're struggling and therefore won't seek help. This can lead to burnout at best or a nervous breakdown at worst.

The good thing is that employers are now realizing the importance of mental health in the workplace and appreciating an employee to open up about what he/she is suffering from. The benefits of supporting mental health in the workplace are many. Companies that take a proactive approach to mental health will be rewarded with happier, healthier employees who are more productive and stay for longer periods of time.

Stress is one of the most common mental health issues in the workplace. It can result from a number of factors including being overworked, underpaid and having too much responsibility. Employees with high stress levels are more likely to leave their job or not perform well if they are still employed at a company.

Anxiety is another common condition that can affect an employee's performance in their role. Employees who suffer from anxiety may have trouble concentrating or performing tasks related to their position due to overwhelming feelings of worry and fear. They may also struggle with social interactions or feel isolated from coworkers because they lack confidence when interacting with others.

Depression affects mood, energy levels and motivation so it can be difficult for someone experiencing this condition to work effectively if they aren't getting enough rest or taking care of themselves properly outside of work hours.

Help employees get the resources they need. If any of your employees has a diagnosed or suspected mental illness, encourage them to talk about it with their primary care doctor or school counselor. And make sure all of your work family stays happy and productive.
