Is your team underperforming?

Is your team underperforming?

This might sound controversial, and even downright impossible…

But if someone on your team isn’t performing well…

The reason might have something to do with how you’re categorizing them in your mind.

Let me explain.?

I lead a pretty good Barbershop Chorus in my town. I say “pretty good,” because our overall score is 67.?

I won’t go into how choruses are scored, but if we wanted to go international, we’d have to score at least an 85.?

For many months, we practiced to get better, but we were only making incremental progress.?

And suddenly it hit me.?

I was holding us back!?

Because I truly believed these men couldn’t perform better than they were. I believe they weren’t capable of improvement.??

And my belief was keeping us stuck!

Think about it. It’s like a basketball coach who doesn’t believe their team can win.?

I owned up to it at our last practice.?

Not only was I committed to change my beliefs and become the leader who could inspire her team to get to 85…

I also challenged them to figure out who they needed to become to perform at a higher level.

Because it’s not what we DO that generates results.?

It’s who we’re BEING.

Let me say that again.

It’s not what you DO that generates results in your career. It’s always who you’re BEING.?

So…

If your team isn’t performing well, it’s time to examine your thoughts, beliefs, and judgments.?

Thoughts and beliefs might be invisible, but they have an impact on the visible world.?

I help executive leaders decode poor performance, and become who they need to be to inspire the people around them and make the biggest impact.

Who do you need to become to get the promotion, the dream job, or the salary increase??

Who do you need to become to achieve fulfillment through your purpose?

Need help figuring that out? Schedule some time on my calendar. On the call, I’ll listen to what your challenges are and see whether I can help. If I’m 100% certain that I can, I’ll give you all the details about what that would look like.

Interesting point. Lack of communication or lack of motivation can be root cause of poor team performance. As a leader, it's important to reflect on our own actions that may lead to these issues.
