Your Sweet Spot

What is Your Sweet Spot

Imagine a life and business that allows you to spend almost all of your time doing those things that energize you. Your daily tasks and duties are in complete alignment with your mission and values. From the time you begin your day to the moment you log off for the day (and beyond), you’re in a total flow state. Sounds great, right? We call that your “Sweet Spot” … the place where your duty, your skill, and your passion intersect!

Working in your sweet-spot isn't about shirking the tasks you don't want to do, it's about reveling in the tasks you DO want to do. It's about drawing out your energy and passion and channeling it into the work that will benefit you and the business the most. Work that aligns with your passions shouldn't just be natural to you, it should be fun! When what we want to do and what we are doing are well-matched, it ceases to be a chore we are obligated to do, and becomes a privilege we are happy to do!

Everyone has their own unique sweet-spot; both you and every member of your team. As Jim Collins says, the first task is getting everybody on the bus, and the next task is getting everybody in the right seat. So, start with yourself; what are your passions and interests? What do you like doing, and what are you good at doing? What things can ONLY be done by you, and what things can be done without you? If you could show up everyday and only do the things you love, what would that day look like? Once you can answer those questions, you'll have a good idea of your own sweet-spot.

You can do the same for you team too; what do each of them enjoy doing? Which tasks get done quickly and which tasks seem to drag on forever? And which team members are struggling and excelling in which areas? You may be surprised which tasks you've been giving to the wrong people...and how much more productive your team becomes when each member is working in their sweet-spot!
