YOUR STYLE DEFINES YOUR FUTURE. ARE YOU MANAGING YOUR STYLE AND - FUTURE?
You have a style. Whether you know it or not. Everybody has a style. And your duty is to perfect it. Why?
In making of First Impression and in life general you need to accept the fact that you must be in charge of it. As if you are not, the outer forces will be in the charge of you. And the outer forces, circumstances, incidents, people, do not care about you and your life will be a random one. You’ll be at the mercy of others and random events. The key to self-mastery and success in life is to understand that you are the only one who really knows you and cares about you.
“Are you one of the “happy go lucky” when it comes to your style? There is no “happy go lucky” in style.” –Max Noble
In making of precise and favorable First Impression you must be in charge of your style. One of the most frequently quoted stories on nonverbal communication is that 93% of all daily communication is nonverbal.
The exact number is irrelevant. The important part is to understand that most of your communication is nonverbal. In fact, nonverbal behavior is the most crucial aspect of communication. Others rarely really listen to you. They look at you. The visual signals you send out, your posture, mannerism and style tell in-depth stories about you. Constantly. And we trust the visuals. The words are most often camouflaged, manipulative and boring. We trust the visual appearance and are wary about the words. You know this to be a fact. Let the others ignore the importance of style. Let the others believe that paying attention how one looks is superficial. This is your advantage.
“The truth is that managing your style is one of the most important tasks in your life.” –Max Noble
Just imagine Steve Jobs wearing a tie and you know it looks wrong. Imagine Elvis having normal hair. Imagine Beyoncé wearing loose joga pants and stained T-shirt. Imagine Richard Branson wearing pinstripe banker suit. Or Trump wearing a suit that fits him. Their style has been essential factor in making them to what they are. Success. In fact the style, the visual splendor, is one of the factors making religions so appealing. All those visuals fill our minds with stories. Stories, which are precise and favorable.
Truth of First Impression. Use the power of style, like all the people who had success have done before you. Accept that the First Impression you make is visual. People read into you. They look at you and they have a story in their mind. Even in the case they cannot rely on visuals, like telephone call, the other will have a visual story about you in their head. Like a small movie, it is projected in their heads. You need be in charge of that story and your style is essential. More you manage the others perception about you, more you are in charge of your story and life.
Final Note. There is no good or bad style. Steve Job’s turtleneck or Donald Trump’s oversized suits are just what they are. Visual storytelling machines. You need to define your own style, make mistakes, improve it and master it. When you master your style, you have made your life easier to yourself and others and you’ll gain control over the story the others tell about you. Make your own story. Make it unique. Make it favorable. And you shall make the world yours.
