Your story is my story

Your story is my story

Have you ever silenced your story? Have you ever felt ashamed of sharing it with others? Have you ever felt that your story was irrelevant for other people? Self-confidence is the key.

Unhappily, this has been LGBTQ+ people suffering, socially condemned to silence for being who they are.

But the way we silence ourselves sometimes, the way some of us decide not to share our stories, it's a more general issue that involves all gender identities. We have an inner storytelling censor that tells us: “It's better to be quiet”.

My experience working with dozens of executives is that they feel their stories are truly irrelevant and make no sense for their audiences. This thought inhibits them.

“What if I am not welcomed? What if they don't appreciate the way I share my story? What if my story is so emotional and insignificant for their interests?”.

There are fears everywhere around us.

In my storytelling workshops, I often say that it doesn't matter how many narrative skills you learn, then your story will never go beyond if you keep whispering to yourself that your life is insignificant. Period.

This impostor syndrome surrounds us massively and sometimes it's a fake feeling.

Why? Because we boicot ourselves.

We have had several experiences of being accepted and recognized, but we continue giving more power to that inner murmuring that tells us we are not worthy. We should turn off this internal radio.

Awareness is crucial to empower us and to break the walls that divide us.

Being a good storyteller not only requires self-awareness but is also a grateful journey. An acceptance of our lights and shadows. This amazing journey starts deep inside ourselves.

Your story is my story.
I need to hear it.
Please, don't hide yourself.
Be proud of YOUR story.

That constant dilemma between being open and being cautious, when is it too little? when is it too much? ... very well put Nicolás! as always, thanks for the push and encouragement.
