Your Speech Analysis

Often people are unaware of the way they sound to others. I know it from my personal experience. I am Russian and live in London. I felt frustrated when people asked me to repeat myself because they could not understand what I were saying. I felt frustrated because I repeated in exactly the same way and people still could not understand me.

One day (12 years ago) I recorded myself and was shocked when I could not understand some of the words I were saying. A friend of mine recommended that I take elocution lessons. I found Linda James, one of the best speech tutors in the UK. During our first session she recorded me for 8 minutes, then we listened to my recording and she explained what English sounds I pronounce incorrectly and why.

The main reasons are:

1. Incorrect placement of tongue, lips ans jaw for a particular sound.
2. Shortened long vowels and clipped diphthongs.
3. Over-articulated (for Russians or Arabs, for example) or under-articulated (for Chinese or Spanish, for example) consonants.
4. Poor voice projection.
5. Fast pace.

Accent Reduction Courses

We have started enrollment on our March 2018 Accent Reduction course! 

Before you start your study with us we need to know your individual pronunciation problems. You can have your speech analysis on Skype or you come to our office for your speech analysis where we record your speech after which we present a written report with your mistakes and our recommendations. The speech analysis helps us to fit you in a group with people with similar to yours needs and make your study efficient. After the speech analysis we might recommend you to come for a few individual lessons instead of joining the course if your need are very different from the rest of participants. It takes place in West Kensington on Mondays and Thursdays from 6.30-8.30pm. We are starting on 19 March 2017, places are limited to four people only!

The price of the course includes:

– Individual speech analysis after the course to help student track

his/her progress on the course and to give further instructions;

– 12 hours of tuition by a qualified speech tutor.

ï¿¡60. To secure your place you must pay the course fees in advance. The

payment should be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer. Cheques should be
