Your Special Delivery, Just in Time for the Holidays...

Long time no chat, eh? All's good in the 'hood? Or hoodie, if you're working remotely? Thank you for being one of the original 5k+ smartest and best-looking people on LinkedIn to subscribe to my humble newsletter. This is my online love language — acts of service — to simplify your life. Let us begin:

YOUR PERSONAL FINANCE HACK:

How to Make Money with Weird Side Hustles

Weird times call for weird solutions. I'm seeing way too many layoffs — right before the holidays, grrrrr — so here are some weird and not-so-weird ways to earn money that you may not ever have considered. If you caught that story about the woman who goes to peoples' homes and lays down with them to hold them for $150/hour, fear not, these ideas aren't that extreme. (But if you do try this form of consulting, demand your customers bathe just before you arrive — it makes a world of difference, per my friend. ??)

Writing: This one's not weird. If you're a laid-off journalist or a person with great writing skills, sign up for this FREE newsletter, FreedomWithWriting.com -- you'll get regular paid writing opportunities sent to your inbox. I post these paid writing opps frequently on LinkedIn.

I do 120 wpm - you?

Errands: If you're open to getting paid to run errands for people, TaskRabbit.com is your platform. Before you pooh-pooh the idea, here are tips from people earning $2k/week using this app.

TBH, Batman sucks at grocery shopping.

Listening, Empathy,& Accountability: If you're a good listener or friend to people, there are consultants on Fiverr.com earning up to $150 an hour to be there for lonely humans, which is an existential epidemic. You can also earn money being someone's virtual accountability partner.

Tell Me Everything.

Love animals? Need to get your 10k steps in? The Rover App finds people who will either walk people's dogs, stay at pet owners' homes to care for their animals while they're out of town, or take in pet owners' animals while the owners travel. People earn up to $150/day taking pets into their homes (cats, too!).

Humankind's Best Friend (and a Dog)

Rent Your Stuff:

  • Turo.com for renting out your car (but first, make SURE your car insurance coverage allows this - my friend Del Stone Jr. just told me he learned that if you drive for Uber, Lyft or one of those food/grocery delivery services, double-check your auto insurance - it usually stipulates it's covering you ONLY for personal use).
  • FatLlama.com for renting out anything you own -- from ping-pong tables to bouncy houses for backyard parties.
  • Neighbor.com to rent out space in your garage, basement, or "She Shed."
  • KitSplit.com to rent out your camera gear (I think Mandy.com would also be a great option).
  • BabyQuip.com to rent out your baby gear.
  • SpotHero.com to rent out your parking space.
  • Spinlister.com to rent out your outdoor gear.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE...

Exciting News About to Unfold...

As many of you know, I'm a vocal ADHD advocate because of my late-in-life diagnosis and the life-changing results I (and my family) saw from ADHD medication. It's astonishing that many people still think ADHD is some imaginary condition, given the proven physiological differences, such as the MRI studies that show an 8.3% average reduction in the pre-frontal cortex of an ADHD patient's brain. This is the gray matter housing your executive functioning center — organizational skills, planning ahead, time awareness, ability to remember names, etc.

Since I am an ADHD Whisperer, I've launched my oft-comedic, FREE Substack Blog, "My Secret ADHD Life: The Misadventures of ADHDee-Dee" exposing the hidden world of ADHD living. People are really loving it, for which I'm grateful, and you will, too, when you join the fun here: https://writebrainmedia.substack.com.

You can pay to subscribe to my Substack if you really want to — Twist. My. Arm. — however, I am still developing my paid subscriber exclusives, which I'll sort over the holidays.

DENISE DORMAN, AUTHOR -- SIMPLIFY. ONE ADHD PATIENT'S BOLD PLAN TO FIX THE ADHD TAX & REDUCE SOCIETAL CHAOS. The Essential Guide for Every Employer. UX Designer. New Product Development Team.

??My TEDx speech on the one unique aspect of ADHD rarely discussed is now written, vetted, and I'll post the confirmed date and location here once I have it.

??October 2024 is ADHD Awareness Month, so I'll be launching my new book (as seen above), "Simplify. ONE ADHD PATIENT'S BOLD PLAN TO FIX THE ADHD TAX & REDUCE SOCIETAL CHAOS" to help employers, family, friends, user experience designers, and new product developers understand how to help this growing portion of our population (52% of us are still undiagnosed). These user experience tips also serve to simplify the lives of everyday people, not just the ADHDers.

?? Here's your sneak preview of one solution in my soon-to-be-bestselling book: Government website forms need a MAJOR OVERHAUL. #AmIRight?

?? I'm wishing you all the ooey-gooey holiday treats and a winter break surrounded by drama-free loved ones. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! ??
