On April 26th, 2022, I did a Q & A Live in my Facebook community (no longer open) on Processes and SOPs. Today, I wanted to share the questions and answers from that live.
Without further ado, here's the moment of truth! Let me know your thoughts!
What's the difference between working on or in your business??Working ON your business means that you are working on the vision of the business and creating processes to make it come alive, doing the client work you love, etc. Working IN the business means you are doing the "busy work" to make the vision happen. Ex. sending pitches to land a 4-5 figure contract.
How do you start or make time to document your business?
Start slow and simply get into the habit of making monthly, weekly, daily, etc goals. Your documentation stems from your vision of the business. Once you have the vision. Start with one thing and start writing out ways to achieve them. This is where process mapping comes in. Overall, this will need to be a new habit to work into your life
When should you document/how to do videos?
When you write out your goals and the realistic ways to achieve them, you've already started your documentation journey. When you've tested your written processes and are satisfied with them, then you can do videos. Videos should be no more than 5 minutes (if you can help it), include captions, and it's helpful to have a transcript nearby.

Where do we store our documents/Tools used?
This is totally user preference, but make sure it's something you make a habit to check and it's accessible for others to use (as needed).
When can my employee/contractor do my SOPs?
They should do them if they are the ones doing the task(s). If it's someone that is project-based, ask if you can have how-to videos at the end. For someone ongoing, have them document after some time or if you aren't satisfied to see if you can come up with a solution.
