Your secret weapon to building wealth(it might not be what you think)...
If you’re an OG rainmaker, as I lovingly refer to those of you who have been reading these emails for the longest time, you’ll know that this is our space to speak frankly with one another about ways we can live richer lives – in all senses of the word.
?So with this in mind, you’ll be unsurprised by the subject line of this email.
?Why? Well whether you think women having money is a form of activism, source of joy, sheer necessity or all three, it’s vital that we talk about it, and if we?do?already talk about it, we need to talk about it more.
?But part of the journey to taking control of our financial futures, must begin with holding up a mirror to ourselves and recognising when we’re fluffing our lines or dancing off beat. Behaviours that frequently arise when we fail to unleash a little discussed yet supremely powerful weapon on our quest to build wealth:?rest.
?I was reminded of this recently in a discussion with some of the wonderful women in the?Rainmakers Academy, on some of the ways we impede our ability to truly own (and not just know) our worth.
?One of the best things about the rainmaker community is not just how much I look forward to seeing my power tribe during our live sessions, but also that as much as I hope to be an exemplary coach and share examples of how I have applied these principles to my own life, it also forces me to level up too.
?For example. In the run up to launching the second cohort of the Rainmakers Academy last month, I went into beastmode, foregoing rest, regular water top ups and even toilet breaks on occasion each day as I worked sun up to sun down.
?It coincided with a return to homeschool and increased covid-induced restrictions, which meant for an altogether more challenging work environment. So what did I do? Power through, completely oblivious to impending crash and burn.

And while there is nothing at all wrong with bursts of activity to achieve a specific, timebound goal periodically, sprints as I like to call them, it’s a problem when this becomes your natural mode. a) because it’s unsustainable and b) because this unsustainability impacts everything else. It’s a bit like betting against yourself every time. Or self-sabotage as it’s commonly known. Because sometimes when we think about setting boundaries and asserting our sense of self worth, the people we need to impose them against are ourselves.
Sometimes we just need to say: enough.
So here are three ways you can set boundaries for yourself and return to equilibrium.
And of course I preface all this by saying: this secret weapon is one of many you need to wield with precision when you start to embark on your wealth building journey. It doesn’t work in isolation otherwise we’d all just be napping and daydreaming the whole time.
Each week we’ll talk about a different weapon to hopefully inspire you to apply one or all of them to your life.
?Can you relate to any of this??Email me and let me know.

3 年'Value leakage' is a focus for me. I hadn't put a name to it - really useful to have something to call it! It's so easy to be busy with stuff not driving to your goals, isn't it? Great post...
