Your Safety, Our Priority: August 20, 2020
In response to COVID-19, Delta has taken additional steps to transform cleanliness and safety so you can feel confident when you return to travel. Throughout the pandemic, the changes made have been a direct result of your feedback, as well as the strong relationships Delta has built with the medical community. This includes experts like Dr. Carlos del Rio, executive associate dean and infectious diseases professor at Emory School of Medicine, and others from Emory Healthcare, a globally recognized health system in our home state of Georgia.
Know that Delta, with Emory advising on safety measures, is working to keep you safe and comfortable when you fly. That includes:
Extending the blocking of middle seats
As you plan your future trips, including travel to visit family for the holidays, rest assured that we have extended our policy of blocking middle seats and limiting the number of customers on every flight through Jan. 6, 2021. Data and science drive this approach to your care and protection. The medical experts at Emory Healthcare agree: distance matters.
Expanding partnerships and employee testing
When you fly, you want to know that every detail of your travel has been considered from a health and safety perspective. Layers of protection have been implemented with guidance from medical experts at Emory to help mitigate your risk of bacterial and viral spread. The cleanliness throughout your trip is a result of Delta’s newly established Global Cleanliness division and partnership with RB, the makers of Lysol.
To take care of the people who take care of you, Delta is well on its way to testing nearly 100 percent of employees for COVID-19, thanks to relationships with Mayo Clinic, Quest Diagnostics and CVS Health. Through these partnerships and others, you can be confident in the measures we have put in place to keep you and our employees healthy and safe while traveling with Delta.
Requiring you and our employees to wear masks
As the pandemic continues, wearing a mask remains the best, most readily available and most efficient defense method to protect against COVID-19, which is why Delta requires a mask on every trip.
From the healthcare perspective at Emory, we see how the use of masks protects those around us every day. Study after study shows that wearing masks helps prevent transmission; one study indicated that COVID-19 would drop to approximately one-twelfth the number of infections if 80 percent of Americans wore masks.
You have our commitment to continue to do everything possible to fight this disease and ensure your health and safety when you fly or visit our healthcare facilities. Thank you for wearing your mask to protect yourself and those around you. Stay well.
