Your Role As A Leader In Culture Change
Walking the Talk | A ZRG Company
Walking the Talk is a world leader in aligning culture with strategy to deliver business results.
We’ve talked in a previous article?about the importance of the leadership shadow on culture change. But we often find leaders don’t understand their day-to-day role in delivering their organisation’s desired culture. In this blog we look at practical tips to help you get started.
1. Keep culture change front of mind.
Discuss the change openly and regularly with your team. Start your team meetings with a reference to one of your culture priorities and have a conversation about what that practically looks like in your team. Or begin by demonstrating an aspect of the change you want to role model. If there is a big drive on increasing accountability, you could share what you want your team to hold you accountable for. Showing is more impactful than telling when it comes to culture change.
Helping leaders build a culture and employee experience that inspire people and create competitive advantage
1 年Great suggestions for any leader going through a culture change process. I would add to this that successful culture change is dependent on consistent, honest upward feedback. Every leader plays a role in culture change by sharing their team's (including from indirect reports) and their own feedback with their leaders when actions and decisions within the organization don't appear to be aligned to the desired culture. Leadership should set the expectation that this feedback, which often needs to be delivered to leaders who are multiple levels above those providing it, is essential (not just welcome) to the success of the change, and broadly recognize it when received. Acknowledging and responding to this feedback helps convince employees that their leaders are committed to the change.
