Will Your Resume Get Through Applicant Tracking Systems If You Applied To A Fake Job?

Did you realize that about 30% of all job ads are for fake jobs?

All internal and external recruiters have to post ads for fake jobs, in order to build candidate pipelines.

So will your resume get through resume screening databases if you applied for a fake job?

The definitive answer is ... maybe.

What you can count on is that you won't get a real interview when you applied to a fake job. You might get through the ATS to get a fake interview (Compliance, comparison or courtesy), if your resume:

• Doesn't get blocked or mis-parsed due to formatting (most are blocked due to formatting)
• Matches almost all criteria?exactly, verbatim (common meanings/synonyms aren't counted as a match by most ATSs)
• Goes beyond job descriptions and publicly available information to address an individual hiring manager's current needs
• If you do more than your competition (no, that doesn't mean send more resumes)

If your resume has the above attributes, your resume could be chosen for a future job, even though the one you applied to was fake.

But if it misses any of these qualities, your resume likely will never see the light of day.
