your real cost is much higher than your estimation

In my whole career, complaints about price is very common in the beginning. Many times I personally also doubt this point, whether our price is too high and how can I sell products to my clients.

To our many clients, what they want is only the material with correct name, 201 304 or 430. Then they only focused on the price they received, but don't care where the materials come from. Our raw material is alway from Bao Steel, TISEC and other top Chinese Steel factories, they have high performance in quality control and consistency. Good material could fasten your production speed, reduce defect rate, and build your company's good reputation. To us, we can also avoid quality claims and easy build long cooperation with you.

The cost has two parts, one part is visible and fixed, the number you wrote on the contract. On the other hand, there an invisible and floated cost you would have to pay. Some times the invisible cost was bigger than the visible cost.

In 2019, a bin factory placed us a urgent order for 304 material, around 20 tons. As a stainless steel material supplier, the inventory is always kept around 500 tons of different grades and thickness. Luckily the warehouse has what they wanted, then we crush 12 hours for them to slitting the coil, brush polish the surface, and film lamination. Some days passed, the factory told us they were appreciative to us of this order. If they can't finish the order in time, they will pay for the huge extra shipping cost and damages their cooperation with big clients. The previous supplier promised to deliver the raw materials weeks ago, but they received nothing. Based on my experience, their previous supplier could not purchase raw materials instantly and unfortunately met an upward price movement. It's a very common and sad story in our industry, finance or honor.

Our principle is raw material price keep same as the spot price in CCMN. What we pursue is the extra process cost, such as slitting, flatting, polishing. Therefore, if we get the order from our clients, we would instantly purchase the raw material. No matter the prices is going down or up.

A client will come back if failed on price, but seldom clients will be back in case with quality issues or promise. When your clients visist your workshop for prodcution supervision, premier material will make them trust you more.
