Welcome back to The Education Envelope!
Do you have a toddler, preschooler or a little one who just started Kindergarten? Are you full of questions with only the Internet to turn to each day?
If you happened to miss my first opening article a few weeks ago, please make sure to add this newsletter to your list.
Next week is Toddler Tuesday, so please share your thoughts, questions, concerns, and ideas with me.
Regarding this newsletter—I'll be covering as many of your questions ranging from preschool through higher education. This newsletter is a place to turn to when you have inquiries about your children, school, bullying, social media, and everything else that goes along with the beautiful ride of parenting and education.
Next week, I am going to start off with early childhood development.

Feel free to reach out in the comments or privately, and I will share your questions and answers with our audience.
Here are some example questions I've answered in the past during my days in the classroom, and as a parent:
- Should I hold my child back an extra year if I feel he or she is not ready?
- Why is my child banging his head against the wall and spinning in circles? This is a serious question.
- How do I set boundaries for my little one? How important are those boundaries?
- What is the first day of Kindergarten like for my child? How do I let go?
- How and when do I advocate for my child?
- I'm nervous about preschool, and my child doesn't want to go. What should I do?
- I think I signed my child up for too many activities. Does he/she need more downtime?

And......
If you missed my first newsletter, here's a recap of The Education Envelope.
Note: Below is my first newsletter from a few weeks ago in case you missed it.
This article is my first newsletter. I like to think of this space as a new learning journey, and I hope you'll join me in this adventure. I'm going to write this letter every two weeks based on your questions as a parent, educator, or anyone who wants to learn about raising kids in this unique time.
I want to share why this newsletter may be different from other ones you're used to reading.
This letter will not be about other people, interviews, nor myself (in case you want to ask me something, please feel free). This newsletter will be for you, about you and any questions you may have related to the topic above.
Most importantly--every other week I will do my best to choose at least two questions regarding parenting, raising kids in the digital age, anything and everything about education, how we learn best, K-12, and higher education.
Below is a little information about me, and why you should engage with this newsletter.
Regarding education and parenting, I see situations through two lenses—one as an educator and one as a parent (you can imagine what it was like picking out preschool for my daughter).
I'm a certified teacher K-9 educator and writer. However, I'm also a practitioner. And, if I don't have the solution, I will do my best to find someone who has it.
Here are a few more reasons why you should follow this newsletter for tips and strategies:
- Unique View & Advice from a Mom and Educator: My generation of parenting is the first one to raise kids with two lives—real-life and digital. I've seen everything from each lens—as a parent and a teacher. Have a question about letting your child get on Instagram? Worried about their social skills? What apps are dangerous? Why are you buying your 2nd-grader a mobile phone? Don't understand what your teenager is doing on Snapchat all night—or, better yet, what is Snapchat? Yes, I have been there and back. I have many lessons to share.
- Teacher: I'm a certified teacher in the State of Illinois. I've taught almost all grade levels. I've worked in higher education, with education startups, and with various other leading educators.
- Mom: Yes, I'm also a mom. As you can see above, I took this picture about three years ago. I see this image as a child with unyielding curiosity, staring at a beautiful tree of hope. What do you see?
- Education questions: Do you have questions about education or the system in general? I sure hope so. If I don't know the answer, I'll be sure to find someone who can help.
- College: Have questions about the right path for your child after high school? Are you worried about his/her education? Is college the right choice for your student?
Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter, and please share it with others who may benefit. I look forward to your questions. Feel free to leave them below.
If you would like to keep your questions anonymous, please reach out to me privately here.

5 年I just need to ask why education is becoming such a load on the teacher? I think lesson plans should be done by specialized one and give it ready to the teacher to execute it. Please help with a suitable solution.
My motto is to liberate students on all levels from rote learning and enable them to become critical thinkers and knowledge creators. I have a solid footprint in South Africa amongst both teachers and students.
5 年Hi Robyn, Do you know at which age can a parent start focusing on the little one's brain’s chrosensor and if that would eventually contribute towards reading time on a watch and seeing the relationship between analogue and digital time in the foundational phase? Regards Cas
