Not sure if you have heard this before but you can judge a man simply by reading their handwriting. Sorry had to use 'man' cause Judging 'women' is wrong... completely ; )
Anyway, before I digress. I recently had the opportunity to attend multiple sessions at a conference and NOT to my surprise many of the PowerPoints were dull and just plan bland...Just a space filler for the many bored souls, to simply stare at while they voyage across the adventures of another world in their minds.
Hence I took it upon myself to write this blog out... Five Golden rules for any presentation:
1.Are you sure you are using the latest corporate templates?
To my sheer disbelief, many presentations had copyrights and trademarks dating for as far back as 2015. ?? I am sure like me your Marketing teams yearly update all the marketing and client-facing Materials with the latest copyright year and confidentiality. Please... Please use them next time you start making a presentation.
2. Layouts are there for a reason...
Most of us use the default slides available and add text boxes. Each layout is specifically designed for a specific type of content. Plan in advance how your slide should look like and then choose the right one. If you still can't find layouts...Message me ??
3. Font sizes and Font styles ...
Just because we have been blessed with over a hundred font styles and sizes we don't need to use them all. Stick to Arial, Avenir or the one that came with the template. Sizes 18 to 12 are the best for readability and neatness.
4. Less is more.
If you have just 3 points in a slide ... maybe it's best to combine with another. No one truly wants to sit through a 20 slide presentation.
5. Add imagery and color, BUT conditions applied.
Let your images and color tones complement the ppt. Let it not overpower or scream out for attention.
Follow these golden rules and you are all set for a great presentation...
