Telemedicine in enterprise offices and pharmacies: why, when, how?

Since September 2018, telemedicine has become more accessible thanks to the reimbursement of this practice by health insurance. Patients with difficulties accessing healthcare will finally be able to benefit from reimbursed consultations in their pharmacies. For example, nearly one in 10 French cities don’t have easy entry to doctor appointments, and in some areas, it takes more than 3 days waiting to access a general practitioner.
Faced with these difficulties, regulations are in favour of giving the pharmacist a new role and allow him to participate in the deployment of telemedicine in France. Faced with this progress, Tessan, a player in e-health, offers medical practices connected to pharmacies (and enterprises) to facilitate access to medical advice on the spot.
How does a consultation in a pharmacy work?
The patient is guided by the pharmacist in the connected medical office (cabin or terminal) in a space respecting confidentiality, adapted for exchanges. Tessan offers 7 medical devices connected to doctors through secure video software. Doctors can then examine the patient by remotely controlling the devices.
The diagnosis is made in accordance with traditional medical practice. The doctor can prescribe, if he deems it necessary, medicines, which can be delivered directly to the pharmacy. It is a fast and facilitated form of care allowing a follow-up and a control of the state of health of the patients, by means of a doctor practicing telemedicine. What are the advantages for patients to have a local medical office in their pharmacy?
With the Tessan solution, it is possible for a patient to obtain a consultation in less than 15min.
But there are many more applications to consider
Developing regions could host a boot in rural areas, flying doctors turn digi-doctors. Bigger enterprises could host a mobile doctors boot in their offices, co-working spaces could do the same. No more wasted working hours by going to the doctor.
Tech taking away jobs?
Not at all, as Tessan works with general practitioners so no jobs are being lost, technology is just optimising the way to connect.
Either way, I'm on the verge to find strategic alliances in Germany to make this an as big as success as it is already in France. The system is ready for it, just searching for organisations that are ready for innovation as well!
