Your plans NOT working out could be your greatest gift...

Your plans NOT working out could be your greatest gift...

One year ago I embarked on what would be the greatest adventure of my life...

I was originally planning to fly to London on February 26th 2020, though after noticing it was snowing in London, I remembered a friend mentioning the beautiful weather in Portugal. I looked at the weather in Lisbon, saw it was sunny and changed my flight at the last moment and hopped on a flight to Lisbon.

I spent my 39th birthday exploring Lisbon and Sintra, and immediately fell in love with Portugal. I then popped over to Paris to continue my adventures there.

March 9th, we hosted the Global Coherence Meditation with Suzi Lula Spiritual Therapist, Deepak Chopra, The Kabbalah Centre, HeartMath, Alexa Fischer and many others meditating simultaneously around the world, which resulted in a shift in the energy of the planet according to scientist, Roger Nelson, who used his random event generator technology to measure the shift that day.

March 11th, I woke up and had lunch with my dear friend Luci Hamilton, who little did I know, would be the last human touch that I would experience for months.

March 12th I awoke to numerous texts from friends around the world urging me to get out of Paris as Trump was shutting the US borders due to the COVID pandemic.

I did the first thing that I could think of, which was to throw my belongings into a carryon suitcase, abandon my Paris apartment and hop on the first train I could to London, which was still allowing flights in and out of the US.

I got terribly ill when I arrived in London (COVID or stress, I will never know), so I immediately locked myself in my new flat and quarantined just in case. I was originally planning to go to Bali and many other places, though instead I began systematically cancelling my travel plans for the next several months that I had painstakingly planned.

A few weeks after initially getting sick, I finally felt well enough to travel. I was considering heading back to the US when I became even more sick than the first time (99% sure I had COVID this time).

My parents were extremely worried about me being by myself and that was around the time when we began Skyping every day so that they could be sure I was OK.

That has been the greatest gift from COVID is that I now Skype with my parents every day.

Then, the day I finally felt well (the 2nd time now well into April) and had quarantined for another 14 days in London, I went to go get a COVID test and to run in the park.

I was so excited to be outside after having been locked up for 14 days, that I paused in a moment of pure bliss to enjoy a vibrant purple spring flower, and had my iPhone yanked out of my hands by two men on a motorcycle.

The experience of not having a cell phone, while alone in a foreign country, during the midst of the pandemic was quite the exercise in surrender and letting go.

Eventually I felt well, got a new cell phone and began to explore London in earnest. It had always been a dream of mine to live abroad, though I had never had the opportunity to do so. I fell madly, deeply in love with London.

It was during this time in London that I wrote my 2nd book 101 Spiritual Tools for Uncertain Times and began hosting a special series with Deepak Chopra and Don Hoffman called "Conversations at the Intersection of Cutting Edge Science and Spirituality," in addition to a 5-part series with HeartMath on Awake TV Network.

Given that my trip to Paris was cut short the first time, I was bound and determined to go back, though I was unable to figure out HOW given that US citizens were not allowed in.

That led me to me to meditating for answers. A short while later, it came to me to cross the English Channel not via train, but via car. I came to find out that citizens of any country could enter that way into France.

That was when my love affair with France blossomed. Languishing mornings sipping coffee in cafes while hunting croissants through various arrondissements. Leisurely lunches before beginning my work at 4pm my time, and generally loving life.

I was intending to go to Portugal on November 1st, though one morning during my meditation, I received a message to leave a week earlier. I checked back over the next few days with my intuition and kept receiving the same message to leave earlier. Thank goodness I listened and left on October 24th instead because Paris got locked down a day or so later.

Why do I share this with you? I never in a million years thought my life over the past year would have turned out the way it did, and yet it was 10x better than I could have ever imagined.

Often, we think we know what we want, though what we truly need at a soul level is something different.

The lesson I learned from all of this:

No matter what happens in the course of one's life, trust that it is for the good!

Thank you, Jennifer, your dairy transported me into seeing what you were doing and experiencing, it seemed to allow me to go outside of myself for a few minutes. All things happen for a reason, we may not know what the reason is until way after it happens - just keep looking ahead! All the best, John
