Is Your Photography Website Working for You?
Regardless of where you are now with your photography business, if you want to advance your business to a higher level, you can certainly do that by following our training.
If your photography website is not ranking on page 1 for your specific keywords in the exact geographic area you want to target, you probably don’t realize what that can do for your business.
We have seen clients jump from $35,000 per year in revenue to over $200,000 in less than two years by simply getting their photography website ranked highly in the search engines.
While it all starts with keywords (we covered this in our article last week), you need to understand if your website is ready for page 1 rankings, and if not, what exactly needs to be done.
What I am about to show you will increase your search engine rankings. There is a process that will eventually bring you to page 1 for your keywords within your desired geographic area. This, of course, will be the starting point for you to take control of your search engine rankings and ultimately the revenue to your business.
Keep in mind what I said in my keyword article. The process begins with understanding your:
· Website page structure
· Keywords for each page
· Complete optimization of each web page
While we will cover optimization next week, it will include many factors such as:
· Keywords
· Title tags
· Descriptions
· Alt tags
· Text on your website
Each of the above needs to be done correctly. You will know exactly how to perform each with my next article and video. Before we get there though, you need to know to what degree your website is, or is not optimized.
Our firm has a tool that will show you exactly what needs to be done. We are happy to run a Free SEO Report of your website if you are a part of our Facebook or LinkedIn Group. You can join below.
This analysis is extensive and will tell you exactly what you need to do to ensure your website is ready for the big leagues.
While the analysis is several pages long, here is a sample of just some of the information it will show you. Again, next week I will show you exactly how to fix any items this report will show you.
As you can see below, the site we are using as an example scored a 62 out of 100. This is poor and needs to be a minimum of 85. Let’s take a look at the problems. First the title tag says food and beverage and yet the page is food photography. One needs to be changed so they are the same.
I am happy with the description as it has both the keyword, and the geographic area the photographer is targeting. For obvious reasons I have taken out the photographer.
Below you will see the very important alt tags for all the images (she has over 20 on this page) which are not being seen, or are not in place. As it turns out, this is a templated website and they want more money to show the alt tags, what a surprise.
Below we have the very important text and header tags. Simply put, you need to have the name of your page that coincides with the title. So, in this case it should simply say Food Photography at the top of the page in a header tag (more to come on this next week)
Also, the text on the page is showing that the main keywords are being used properly. This is important as Google wants to see everything working together including your text.
I am not sure if there is another industry that benefits as much as a photographer when it comes to the search engines and social media. People are so visual today and that is what you offer.
Your presence online though, has to be defined by a website or blog that is properly optimized so you are being found in the search engines. We are going to show you how to do that.
