The Dance of Creation, Preservation, and Destruction
Delayed post since my last newsletter as I have been spending more time with my family. Over the last few weeks, I reflected a lot on life, family, startups, investments, India's growth story, and the importance of continuously moving forward. Growing up, we were encouraged to have an open mind, learn to Dream, give Daan (charity), and never back down from doing our Karma (Action).
As per Hinduism, our current life, for that matter all lives, is bounded by the wheel of?Karma. Past life?Karmas?are the reason for incarnation of the Soul in this world. The Soul incarnates at a prefixed time and place according to?Karmas?of the past life.??Karmas?are like Balance Sheet having Assets and Liabilities.?The Soul with Assets (good?Karma) and Liabilities (bad?Karmas) incarnates accordingly. During the current life span, again the Soul is bounded by the?Karmas?performed.?The?Karmic?Wheel continuously gets updated with the?Karmas?being performed.?The sufferings consume the bad Karmas of the past life, hence shall be taken in stride. Whereas easy to go life shall be dealt with pinch of salt, as we tend to create adverse?Karmas?by all our wrong actions or inaction, mental or physical.
This brings me to Startups and their founders, with whom I spend the balance time post my family. A few thoughts which are applicable to life in general and important for all to imbibe in our day to day lives:
1) Failure is part and parcel but the ability of founders to not look at a setback as a negative, is important. Keep Building
2) Believe in your vision (reiterate with pivots, if required), doing is more important than winning. Execute

3) Go through your Agnipareekshas?(trials by fire) to prove the concept or your product. This will also be the time you develop your own differentiated?asthra?(weapon) that will be a game changer. Find your Product-Market-Fit
4) Your core team must have specialists, willing to don multiple hats or have the ability to be?panchamukha?(multi-faceted) with absolute passion. Work towards Building a Truly Enduring Company.
Every entrepreneurial action will have obstacles, but it is the journey that matters.
Nothing can be more thrilling than living out a dream!

Among the many values he inculcated in his children, one which was of utmost importance was to always serve others and never back down from your karma. ??
