Your Partner Matters

Your Partner Matters

Picking the right recruitment agency for your commercial build isn’t just a task—it’s a strategic move.

Why?

Because your recruitment partner does more than just deliver candidates—they become an extension of your brand. The candidate experience they create speaks volumes about your organization’s values, culture, and standards. An agency that “gets it” knows how to amplify your brand’s appeal and connect you to high-caliber talent, fast. But the wrong partner? Well, that can lead to wasted time, hundreds of resumes that barely fit the role, and frustrated hiring managers wondering if they’d be better off screening LinkedIn profiles on their own.

Here’s My Take on Recruitment Firms: Amazon vs. Temu .

Both Amazon and Temu exist to fulfill the same purpose: buy what you need. We all know Amazon—it’s the standard for what e-commerce should look like. But Temu? I’ll share a snapshot below of what a quick Google search reveals about the Temu experience. Let’s just say, it doesn’t scream reliability.

Ouch.

Why We Love Amazon: Amazon set the bar high. We order, and our item arrives in two days, free of shipping charges most of the time. Returns? Smooth and hassle-free. Need support? You get a 24/7 customer service line with virtually zero wait times, and the mantra is clear: the customer is always right. Like them or not, Amazon transformed our expectations for online shopping.

Now, go order something from Temu.

Sure, it’s cheap—but delivery timelines are anyone’s guess. You pay for shipping, and good luck if you need to return something. Customer service? Let’s say it’s the opposite of Amazon: they’re right, and you’re wrong. It’s not exactly the kind of experience you’d recommend.

The reality is, if people had the option to buy the same product from both Amazon and Temu, most would pick Amazon—even if Temu were cheaper—because we prioritize reliability and ease. We haven't had our "Amazon" moment in recruitment (yet).

So Why Are Companies Choosing the “Temu Strategy” for Recruitment?

It often comes down to one thing: price. Companies select agencies purely on cost without a real benchmark for quality. But quality in recruitment does exist. The best firms, like Amazon, work with fast turnarounds, curated candidate pools, and a commitment to creating a positive experience on both ends. When you go the Temu route, though, here’s what you’re likely to get:

? Unpredictable Timelines: When will you see talent? Your guess is as good as theirs.

? Uncurated Talent Pool: A candidate pool that, nine times out of ten, doesn’t meet your needs.

? Poor Communication: Want to adjust your search? You may wait days before hearing back, only to find they aren’t even close to what you need.

? Frustrated Hiring Managers: Instead of filling roles with high performers, hiring managers are back to square one, juggling interviews with underqualified candidates and chasing after updates from recruiters who disappear for days at a time.

? A Terrible Candidate Experience.

So, what happens? Your hiring manager starts sourcing candidates independently, frustrated with an agency that, in the end, operates more like a mediocre project manager than a partner. They’re dealing with three-day lags just to schedule interviews, ghosted candidates, and roles that still sit open months after they should have been filled.

For the hiring managers out there who get told, “We can’t expand our vendor list right now,” send this article to your HR team. The reality is, that they likely aren’t scrolling Temu for a new laptop, so why would they rely on a “Temu strategy” when it comes to sourcing your next key hire? And most would agree—a key hire is much more important than a new laptop.
