Your part in organizational sustainability
When you close your eyes and think of activism. You probably picture the image below. While this is highly effective in public forum and legislation. This is not an effective one within business. There are many components to issues such as an environmental crisis and sustainability. Consider in our own work the ways you can effect change. Now think about what could happen if 10% of the workforce looked at sustainability in their work lives and personal lives separately. The most effective way is to be an agent of change.
Look at the ways your company can protect the world we share. Think about actions like logistics, operational cost, human services and automation. These daily actions can be refined into sustainability. The great thing about sustainability is that it helps your environment and life, while also helping the companies bottom line. Think about what is wasteful, look at the forest through the trees. How can you propose the change? How can you advance your career into/through a position of change?
Consider AdventHealth and how they provide electric car charging on campus among many other great things. By providing this, employees are more inclined to purchase electric vehicles. Each one purchased reduces 4.6 metric tons of carbon from our world a year. Now imagine if every employer took a step like this. What would this relatively small world action multiple into?
Keep thinking, asking questions, and driving everyone to a better world. Be the agent of change.
