Your Own Pile

You really need to be watching Succession, and you really, really need to see the last 10 minutes of the season 3 finale - I won't spoil it here but the lesson is clear - to win you need to make your own pile.

There's a real ruthlessness there - winning means others lose, it's war, you cannot have it all - it's your interest against all others, all the time.

Sounds incredibly tiring but maybe that's why only the outlier of all outliers is rewarded with incalculable wealth - and culture is a reflection of our reality.

Which is why it makes total sense that Elon Musk was named Time's Person of the Year - he's building and doing things noone really thought possible and he's also like the entire internet came to life, with all its benefits and drawbacks.

Whatever you may think of him, he has to be a part of the story that will be told of our time and the impact it has on the next couple decades.

It's incredible to think about the kind of opportunities that opened up (only in America!) and what we can all accomplish; maybe without the huge tradeoffs that it takes to be the ultimate winner. What is it winning exactly anyway?
