Your Outie Enjoys Internet Ghosts

A bit of the internet:

Daily Mail CapCut | BREAKING NEWS: if you’ve ever wanted to see your name in the headlines, now’s your time to shine. TikTok users are using CapCut to steal the look and audio of Daily Mail’s “breaking news” posts and making their own ridiculous headlines. Take a scroll for fake news like brawls with Troye Sivan and criminal accusations of being “a goofy guy.”

JBL Speakers | If you’ve ever heard a JBL speaker blasting at max volume (likely with a blown-out speaker) this trend might resonate with you. TikTok users are pairing a low-quality Fetty Wap track with hilarious scenarios. Like “Paul Revere pulling up with a JBL speaker blasting Fetty Wap to let the Americans know the British are coming..” Even JBL is in on the joke, dropping comments back like “it’s true, this was the fastest way to get the news around back in the day. trust we were there.”

Room For Memes In Your Coffee? | In response to Starbucks' new directive for baristas to write notes or doodles on customers' cups, they've been using this as an opportunity to write viral memes and pop culture references, such as "mama a bucks behind you" and Laurie’s entire monologue to Jo in Little Women.

The Sims Is 25 | The Sims is celebrating its 25th birthday this year! To celebrate, the game re-released old favorites, had a slew of celebrity guests and more. The actual anniversary (February 2nd) featured a 25-hour live stream with special guests like Latto, Doja Cat and drag queens Trixie and Katya. Latto said it best: baddies do play Sims, so get out your computer and soak in the nostalgia. Likiwewerusi tubo 25! (Cheers to 25 in Simlish.)

Grammy’s Galore | The Grammys made their mark across social media this year.

What brands are up to:

The Collab That Was Meant To Be | MUSTAAAAAAAAAAAAARD. Heinz and GRAMMY-winning producer Mustard have teamed up to drop the first-ever Mustard x Mustard sauce, unveiled at the GRAMMY Awards. As the newly crowned Chief Mustard Officer, Mustard is taking his creativity beyond the studio, remixing flavors, curating recipes, and bringing the heat to Heinz for the first time in nearly a decade.

Severance Season 2 (no spoilers!) | The hype around Severance Season 2 is real, and the internet is eating it up. The show is taking its immersive world-building to the next level by launching in-universe branded content, like a Lumon Industries LinkedIn page and a Reddit community, and even turning the once-fictional book The You You Are into a real-life read. Fans also can’t get enough of Adam Scott, tuning into his Hot Ones episode with Patricia Arquette and creating mashups of his Parks and Rec days with eerie Severance scenes.

Troye Sivan Fragrance x Pinterest | Pinterest amplified Troye Sivan’s fragrance launch with Tsu Lange Yor by taking us behind the scenes into his creative process. Pinterest gave Sivan the title of featured creator and released his private mood board that was used during initial stages of concepting the campaign for his fragrance, By Your Side.

App Invite Wars | Apple recently launched "Apple Invites," an app that lets users create and easily send custom invitations. Partiful, an all too similar invite app, took to X to call out Apple, accusing them of breaching their own app developer guidelines that prohibit copycat services.
