Your Opinion is Irrelevant

Your Opinion is Irrelevant

Well, Monday was interesting, to say the least.

Because Monday afternoon I was at the Royal Courts of Justice to hear the verdict in the Bawa-Garba appeal.

Many, many doctors feel that the case against her was a watershed moment for medicine in the UK. Many share my personal opinion that she should never have been charged in the first place.

But you know what?

My opinion doesn't count.

Doesn't matter in the slightest.

Because that's the way things ARE.

My opinion is utterly irrelevant. I can think what I like, say what I like, but it doesn't change the facts.

And guess what?

Your opinion is irrelevant too.

It may irritate you that despite your expertise, your skills, your years of training and dedication to doing the best for your patients, that patients don't come and see you privately of their own accord.

It may annoy you that your obvious good qualities are not enough to make that happen - and that so many patients see lesser-able consultants. Instead of seeing YOU.

Welcome to the real world.

You can either rail against the facts - and continue to struggle in your private practice.

Or you can accept reality as it is and play a smarter game.

Accept that you need to market your practice to generate the income you want - and just get on with it.

Which is it to be?
