In this edition of the LendingCrowd newsletter, we share some details about the launch of our new portal for loan applications and announce our Broker of the Month. Thank you for your continued support.

ECONOMIC ROUND-UP

• The rate of inflation, as measured by the Consumer Prices Index, slowed to 1.7% in September, down from 2.2% the previous month and its lowest level in more than three years. Lower air fares and petrol prices helped to drive down inflation, offsetting an increase in food and soft drink prices.
• The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee voted by a majority of 8-1 at its September meeting to maintain the base rate at 5%. The MPC’s?next rate decision will be announced on 7 November.

30 seconds with: Joe Leeds

What is your role at LendingCrowd?

I’m the Loan Servicing Manager. I manage the team that looks after our borrowers after their loans have?drawn.

Can you sum up a typical day at work?

A typical day would begin with a morning planning meeting with my team to set up the day ahead. From there I like to complete my own quota of tasks first, as well as helping the team answer any borrower calls and emails. I then have regular coaching with team members and will usually have one or two meetings with other business areas as we come together to continuously look at improving processes for both the business and our borrowers. The day is usually rounded off with some quality checking and reporting.

What do you like most about working here?

I enjoy being part of such a strong and close-knit group of colleagues who care about driving the business forward.

What keeps you busy outside work? I have a one year old who keeps me very busy!

Favourite TV series and why?

The Sopranos. The only series that I could watch repeatedly without ever getting bored.

Welcome to the team, Colin!

I am an Edinburgh-based operational risk professional with over 20 years’ combined risk, AML and operational management experience.?I spent over 10 years at Tesco Bank supporting a large commercial function, a role I took on after working in their financial crime team.

Prior to that I spent 13 years with a foreign exchange business, performing?a variety of roles as the business grew from a single bureau de change on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile to having a national presence; latterly I held the joint roles of retail operations manager and MLRO for the business.

I have received a very warm welcome from everyone since joining LendingCrowd and have been impressed with the depth and breadth of expertise and knowledge across the teams. I am looking forward to working with everyone as the business continues to grow.
