Your new City of Perth Council

After the third election campaign in as many years, your new City of Perth Council was sworn in on Tuesday evening by Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas.

We welcome newly elected councillors?Bruce Reynolds, Raj Doshi, David Gonsalves and Catherine Lezer. They will serve four year terms?ending in October 2027.

Incumbent councillors Liam Gobbert, Clyde Bevan, Viktor Ko and myself still have two years to serve ending in October 2025.

On Wednesday night, Council met again to vote in its new Deputy Lord Mayor and to fill all committee roles both within our governance structure and?also for important external bodies.

There is a lot of work that happens behind the scenes each month away from Instagram and outside the Council Chamber that often goes unnoticed, but is vital to the good governance of our City.?

The next two years:

One of the most important roles of a Councillor is to act as a communications link between our community and the administration. So, as I have done for the past three years, I will continue to send an update after each Council meeting and on matters of particular importance as they come up throughout the term. These updates are never the official position of the City,?my colleagues as individuals or the Council as a whole. This is simply my effort to keep you informed and it's just my opinion as one councillor.?

My focus throughout each month will continue to be on the basics:

  • Delivering local services and infrastructure as efficiently as possible,
  • Finishing our?new town planning scheme ASAP,
  • Utilising?our $850 million property portfolio to improve financial outcomes for ratepayers,
  • Investing?in our $77 million/year parking business to improve profitability for ratepayers through lower costs and improved technology for customers, and
  • Whenever necessary, take the fight to the State Government on matters critical to ratepayers.?

Meeting schedule:

Our next meeting will be the Agenda Briefing Session on 14 November, with committees meeting to elect individual chairs and setting agendas for their term. You can find more information on our meeting schedule by clicking here.

As usual, if there's anything I can help you with please get in touch - [email protected] or 0406 681 432.
