Your nervous system

The nervous system determines who we are, enabling us to sense, think, feel, remember, and move. When your nervous system is not working optimally, it can affect your social and emotional wellbeing, as well as your day-to-day level of performance, whether that is at work, school, sporting activity etc.. So, what can you do to optimise your nervous function, to help you manage your mental health, and to be productive and creative?

What can you do to help?

Include relaxation ( downtime) into your daily routine activities. Perhaps this can be mindfulness or meditation, or by giving yourself 'me-time' for something you truly enjoy.

Practice your breathing. If you are stressed during the day, try taking time out to do deep breathing for a few minutes.

Engage in outdoor activity, if possible, such as walking, especially earlier in the day.

Identify the cause of your stress by writing down your experiences or speaking to someone

Consider your nutrition. Are you getting the necessary vitamins, minerals etc. in your diet? Perhaps a nutritional supplement could help. .
