Last week we sent out our annual Letter to the Board, calling on over 33,000 companies to disclose their environmental risks and impacts through our new Portal and single questionnaire. Almost 3,000 companies disclosed on plastics for the first time through CDP in 2023, demonstrating that the private sector is waking up to the importance of tackling plastic pollution in their value chains. The political fight for the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) has come to a successful end. After a vote in the European Parliament, the proposal has finally been adopted, marking a win for corporate responsibility amidst a rising backlash against the region’s environmental regulations.
